PSHE stands for Personal, Social and Health Education. PSHE is an important program because, as a responsible school, we do not only focus on academic subjects, we share the aspirations and common goal with parents that children will grow up to be caring and contributing individuals, and responsible citizens.
Through PSHE lessons and assembly presentations, students will develop the understanding, knowledge, and skills they need from early teens to adulthood. We aim to promote students' well-being, support their personal, academic, and social development, and encourage reflection on beliefs, attitudes, and values. Students will learn the importance of embracing diversity. They will recognize prejudice and discrimination, to show respect and understanding to another person, regardless of ability, age, education, gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation, whether that is a classmate, a neighbor, or an online friend who lives far away.
We trust that with the safe and expressive environment that KCCIS provides, students will be able to make informed decisions in the future, know how to resolve conflicts with others in constructive ways, and learn how to lead a happy life, thus make positive changes of that of others.
Relevance of PSHE to university / career counseling
KCCIS aims to ensure students a meaningful education that helps them become open-minded, caring, and responsible individuals and citizens in the society on different levels. As such, the relevance of our PSHE program to students’ development in different areas in life, including university / career counseling, cannot be overemphasized. Our teachers, together with our school counselor, will help students explore future studies and potential career options all through their secondary school years. Please also see when career related topics are covered in PSHE in different years:
