a. KCCIS designates one period weekly for PSHE, to be held in the first
period every Wednesday. For Year 11, there will be 25 PSHE
periods in 2023-2024: 12 in Term 1, 12 in Term 2, and 1 in Term 3.
Year 11 study leave begins (provisional) on April 25th, 2023.
b. Each homeroom (Y7 to Y11) will make a presentation to be shared on
Google Drive or in a whole-school assembly depending on the situation,
and please note that some classes may co-host a presentation. Year 11
will attend as many presentations as possible before they begin their study
leave on April 24th, 2024. They may say good bye to the school by making
online presentation or in the school hall or gym depending on the situation.
c. A maximum of two lessons should be used for the preparation of
assembly presentation.
d. It is understandable that homeroom teachers will take up PSHE class time
for preparation of other important events in the school. It is recommended
that:
One/two lessons be used for the Christmas Carnival preparation.
Two lessons be used for exam revisions (last Wednesday before exams).
e. Discovery Week presentation when applicable
f. Y11 may have only 7 in-class PSHE lessons. Suggested topics and materials
are stated in the above attached Schemes of Work.
g. Core topics, as listed in the homepage, are to be incorporated into
teaching when deemed appropriate. Four textbooks about values
education are available in the library.
h. It is optional for homeroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach with other
teachers, and perhaps joining the year groups together. It is advisable as it
would help generate even more ideas in class.
IMPORTANT: The relevance of PSHE to university / career counseling
Homeroom teachers will help students explore their career paths, setting realistic goals, understand what is involved in the world of work, including working relationships and work ethics. Students are encouraged to discuss with their friends, siblings, parents, and teachers about your future. When in doubt, please do not hesitate to see your school counselor, who will guide you through. Please also visit this site: www.kccisuni.weebly.com
